There were some excellent team performances from Westbury Harriers' at the Man v. Horse marathon this weekend.
5 Westbury men took part in the main race - Anthony Glover finished 6th in 2.38.33, Rich Collinson 8th in 2.40.04 and John Terry 15th in 2.47.28, which was enough to secure the Men's team prize for the first 3 runners to complete the 22 mile course. In addition Fraser Jamieson was 33rd in 2.58.09 and Gareth Howard was 81st in 3.21.05.
Robyn Golding and Debbie Marsden formed a relay team, with Robyn running Legs 1 and 3, which won the ladies relay event in a time of 2.41.39 - which was good enough for 3rd team overall! A great effort considering the handicap of Robyn having to run 2 legs!!!
Who are we?
Westbury Harriers is a well established running club, based in Bristol, UK (the name 'Westbury' comes from the Westbury-on-Trym area in north-west Bristol where we were founded, although we now attract runners from all over Bristol and South Gloucestershire). We cater for all ages (youngsters of 9 to young-at-heart of 65+) and abilities (complete novices to established international). We have even had runners come along as complete beginners and progressed through to running for their country! Being a small club with a big reputation, we have a real 'family' atmosphere - so be warned: you might start by bringing along your offspring, but could end up getting seriously fit, yourself.
